La Surfista loves Punta Burros! Punta Burros loves La Surfista! On bigger days she is often the oldest surfer out, and the only woman. Stuck on the beach with injuries, I shot her getting a fast one for me.

La Surfista (la abuela rapida)

La surfista at 7:30 am. Sometimes she likes to start the day with a fast, ledgy lefthander. La surfista will be 62 in a few weeks. She says she feels it, but not when she's doing this.

Michoacan Bakery
Papa is just outside baking off big thin empanadas in the 2 meter tall clay oven. The slab walls and dirt floor are eclipsed by the craftsmanship and efficient beauty of the family enterprise. We continued north on Mex 200 with steaming hot spicy chicken, and sweet jammy pineapple empanadas, each the size of a 12" pizza folded in half.
